The Horticulture Intern will work with the Franklin Park Zoo Horticulture Department staff to create an inventory, assessment and catalog of Franklin Park Zoo’s trees and planting sites. The successful applicant will use GPS, MS Excel, and multiple data platforms to inventory, assess, and catalogue trees and planting sites.
Interns are required to submit written documentation from a physician or clinic of a negative TB test taken within the last 12 months.
Interns should identify any special requirements for receiving academic credit at the start of the internship.
This position is open for any student who will either be a rising Junior or Senior in the Fall of 2021 with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
Applicants for this position are expected to possess:
Interest, background, or education in tree identification.
Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office.
The ability to research and understand technical documentation.
The ability to work independently.
Strong verbal and written communication skills. A professional, courteous manner. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
